Admissions & Prospectus

Trinity Academy Grammar is a heavily oversubscribed school; although we would like to offer a place to every child who wants to come to here, that sadly is not possible. We admit 210 students per year into Year 7 and these places are awarded strictly in line with the terms of our Admissions Policy (including our oversubscription criteria).

Trinity Academy Grammar is here to serve the local community and our Admissions Policy reflects this. Our students and staff come from a wide range of backgrounds, and are of all faiths and none. Our vision is to transform the experiences and chances of young people from the local area by offering them an education that is tailored to their needs. In partnership with our sister institution, Trinity Academy Halifax, we are working to become an outstanding institution where no limits are placed on what our young people can achieve. We admit 210 students per year into Year 7 and these places are awarded strictly in line with the terms of our Admissions Policy (including our oversubscription criteria).

For full details of Trinity Academy Grammar’s admissions process, including in-year transfers, admitting children outside their normal age group, and the appeals process, please consult our Admissions Policy and related guidance, by clicking on the blue boxes below.  If you require a hard copy of any of the documents, please contact the academy through the button below.

Fair Banding - How it Works

In-Year Admissions

The procedure for allocating in-year vacancies at Trinity Academy Grammar will include a fair banding assessment to honour the character of the Admissions policy, as permitted by the Department for Education. Governors will ensure that any child who wishes to be admitted to the school into Year 7 (after the first term) or Years 8-11, will be given the opportunity to sit the fair banding assessment. Upon receipt of an in-year application, Trinity Academy Grammar will notify the applicants in writing of the next available assessment date.  Assessments for potential in-year admissions will be held once each half-term on the following dates:

·         Wednesday 30 April 2025

·         Wednesday 16 July 2025

In exceptional circumstances (and to ensure we work in line with the Admissions Code), a second opportunity will be made available for the child to sit the assessment. Details of the assessment will be communicated to parents in advance.

Sitting the Fair Banding assessment does not guarantee a place at Trinity Academy Grammar. It does however give children on the waiting list, priority over those who choose not to sit the assessment. At such time that a vacancy arises, places will be offered to applicants in accordance with the academy’s Admissions policy and oversubscription criteria.
