Achieving Great Attendance
High attendance is crucial for children’s wellbeing, friendships and educational success. Everyday and every lesson counts towards building a sense of belonging and ensuring students achieve their full potential.
The academy works hard to ensure that students are known, valued and understood and find their learning enjoyable and stimulating. We understand that if students are to learn effectively, then the academy must be a place in which they look forward to coming. Our dedicated pastoral and attendance teams work with families to remove barriers to attending the academy and have supported many complex students and families to develop good attendance habits.
Students are expected to arrive on time, every day and should only be absent in ‘exceptional’ and unavoidable circumstances, please see here for NHS guidance. Please ensure that any absences are reported via the absence line on 01422 831011 before 8.30am. During this call, please clearly state your child’s name, tutor group, reason for absence and expected date of return. Further information on the academy’s attendance and punctuality policy can be found on the Policies page.

Holidays During Term-Time
Leaders will challenge extended term-time leave to ensure everyone understands the academic, social and emotional impact on learning. Holidays therefore, during term-time will not be authorised, and will be recorded as unauthorised absence. Further information is available within the Attendance and Punctuality Policy which can be found on our Policies page. The academy operates different holiday patterns with some holiday weeks that are classed by tour operators as out of term-time, meaning that it is possible to secure cheaper deals.
