Admissions & Prospectus

Trinity Academy Grammar is a heavily oversubscribed school; although we would like to offer a place to every child who wants to come to here, that sadly isn’t possible.  We admit 180 students per year into Year 7 and these places are awarded strictly in line with the terms of our Admissions policy (including our oversubscription criteria). This can be downloaded here.

Fair Banding

Trinity Academy Grammar uses fair banding as part of the admissions process to ensure we are a truly comprehensive school. Students must be pre-registered for and sit the Fair Banding Assessment, as part of this process. Please find examples of the fair banding familiarisation papers below: the NVR papers will provide samples of the kinds of questions students will be asked.

Fair banding registration for the 2022/23 academic year will open on 20 June. The deadline for registration is Monday 19 September 2022. Register  for the Trinity Academy Fair Banding Assessment below, watch our explanatory video and read on to find out more about admissions.

Fair Banding - How it Works

Trinity Academy Grammar is here to serve the local community and our Admissions Policy reflects this. Our students and staff come from a wide range of backgrounds, and are of all faiths and none. Our vision is to transform the experiences and chances of young people from the local area by offering them an education that is tailored to their needs. In partnership with our sister institution, Trinity Academy Halifax, we are working to become an outstanding institution where no limits are placed on what our young people can achieve.

Join Us

Trinity Academy Grammar is a popular school, but we do occasionally have places available to parents of students who are new to the area, or those who wish to join us in Year 8 and above via an in-year transfer. Please contact us to discuss a visit to the academy and support with the in-year application process.

All applications to join in Year 7 are made via Calderdale Council’s admissions process.

Appeals

If your preference for a place at Trinity Academy Grammar cannot be met, you have the right of appeal within 20 school days from being provided with the decision letter.  If you wish to appeal, you should state in writing your reasons for the appeal and send this to the Independent Appeals Clerk (details below).  The clerk will explain the process, timelines etc. and communicate with any appellants directly.
